Manual Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a holistic body therapy to treat dysfunction and restriction in the muscles, joints and fascia of the body, promoting mobility and postural alignment, while resolving pain.

Manual osteopaths are trained in knowledge of how to find and treat the cause of musculoskeletal symptoms.

Manual Osteopathy is a holistic (whole body) approach involving touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage for the treatment of restriction, pain and mobility issues. We treat sensitive people with shoulder, back and neck issues, sciatica, arthritis, planter fasciitis, systemic problems and much more.

Manual Osteopathy is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together. For your body to work well, its structure must also work well. Manual osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery.

Touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage are used to increase the mobility of joints, relieve muscle tension, enhance blood and nerve supply to tissues, and facilitate the optimal function of your body’s own healing mechanisms. We provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Manual osteopaths also carry out many of the diagnostic procedures used in a conventional orthopedics and physical therapy as well as utilizing methods unique to osteopathy, to determine the cause of each patient's symptoms.

Manual Osteopaths contact the muscles, joints and fascia of the body while correcting postural alignment on a deep level.

During a session hands on therapeutic techniques are used to restore mobility and recover from pain. Muscle tension is released and range of movement is restored, leading to improved postural alignment and sense of easy in the body.

Receiving osteopathy is beneficial for relieving stress and improving your energy.

Who Can Benefit From Osteopathy?
Everyone can! Osteopaths are trained to see and resolve issues in the alignment of the bones, joints and muscles before they lead to pain. Osteopathy can also resolve issues with recent or long term pain.

Our practice is unique in that I use a wide variety of techniques, some of which are very gentle and some of which are stronger to address pain and imbalance.

The gentler techniques are ideal for sensitive people who would otherwise be concerned about seeking help. The gentler approaches such as fascial unwinding, indirect inhibition, cranial osteopathy and Jin Shin Jyutsu are also effective for treating babies, children, the elderly, or people with a current diagnosis such as autoimmune or osteoporosis.

The stronger therapeutic techniques we practice such as trigger point therapy, deep tissue bodywork and specific adjustments are stronger and well suited for individuals who need a more direct approach to resolve their nagging tensions or chronic pain.
